Galaxy Note 10 Plus and Note 10 Moisture Detected issue and its solution

The charging port of your Note 10 device may occasionally hold water or moisture. In this case, Galaxy Note 10 may show Moisture Detected issue. This doesn’t mean your phone is faulty. In most cases, fixing this error is simple: dry the phone. For some reason, there are some rare cases although the error detected by moisture may occur. We include these factors below.

What causes moisture to be detected as an error on Galaxy Note 10

There may be some factors that can cause error in moisture detection on Galaxy Note10. Below are some of the common causes of this problem:

  • Wet charging port
  • Damaged charging port
  • Application problem
  • Unknown software problem
  • Bad hardware

Note 10 Moisture Detected issue # Method 1: Check the port

Moisture detection error usually occurs if the charging port is wet or there are traces of liquid inside. This can happen after exposing the device to water or liquid, or when using it in humid environments. This error reminds the user not to charge the phone unless the port is dry. 


If your Galaxy Note10 + is showing a moisture detected error, you won’t be able to charge it as cable charging will not be allowed by the system. This is to prevent the device from being shortened. The error doesn’t mean your phone is faulty. All you have to do is check the port, wipe the device and let it dry for a few hours. 

The water naturally evaporates after a while, so you don’t need to do anything other than wait. Once the charging port is free of water or moisture, the error should also disappear. Based on experience, a Galaxy device will give you plenty of warning to remind you of the wet charging port. 


If you try to connect the charging cable to a wet port, you will receive an alarm telling you to disconnect. This sound alarm will only stop when the system detects that you have removed the charging port. Dry the phone by shaking it gently. This is normally sufficient to get rid of water or moisture in the port.

At normal temperature, the water will evaporate spontaneously, usually within two hours. Let your Galaxy Note10 rest near a soft heat source such as the back of a TV or computer. If you expose the device to any liquid other than fresh water, rinse the phone thoroughly with clean water to remove it. 


Then dry the device with a clean soft cloth. DO NOT attempt to blow air into the charging port when it is wet. Doing so can push moisture or water deep and cause long-term, delayed damage to the motherboard.

If the “Moisture detected” error persists now, it is possible that you have not completely got rid of the moisture in the charging port. The natural evaporation process may not be enough to remove any residual moisture so you need to dry the phone further. There are two domestic remedies for this depending on the availability of the material for you.

A common way to dry wet electronics is to use uncooked rice. After wiping dry the device, place it in a container and cover. 

Make sure the uncooked rice covers the appliance completely to “bury” it in the bowl. Then leave it in this state for at least 40 hours or longer. This should have enough time to allow the rice to absorb moisture from the port. Make sure to close the container throughout this process.

Alternatively, you can use several packs of silica gel instead of rice. You can buy silica gel at your local craft store. This is a more effective way to get rid of moisture from your phone. Again, be sure to close the container for at least 48 hours before leaving the device there.

If money is not an issue and you need to dry the phone quickly, you can have the professional dry it for you. Visit an electronics store or repair shop that offers a drying service. There are a number of professional tools technicians use to dry electronic parts faster. 

Note 10 Moisture Detected issue # Method 3: Verify that charging accessories are working

If the Galaxy Note10 + Moisture detected error remains even after drying the phone completely, there may be other factors behind the problem. In our experience with Samsung Galaxy S and Note devices, if the charging accessory or port is damaged, moisture detected error can occur even when the phone is dry. 

In this case, the system may be making incorrect readings about the presence of water or fluid from the charging port. To see if the issue is caused by a charging cable or adapter, try charging the device using another known working cable or adapter. 

If you can borrow another set, that would be fine. If you can’t do this, visit your local Samsung store and see if you can charge your phone using chargers for Note10 +.

Note 10 Moisture Detected issue # Method 4: Charge your phone while it’s turned off

If you think your phone is about to run out soon and you need the device, try charging it while it’s turned off. Again, you want to make sure the charging port of your phone is dry to avoid damaging the system. If the error persists, move on to the next steps to troubleshoot possible app or software issues.

Note 10 Moisture Detected issue # Method 5: Restart into Safe Mode

In some rare cases, moisture detected error can occur due to a bad third party app. Restart the phone in Safe Mode to see if you have installed malware or a badly coded app. 

In this mode, all third-party apps are blocked and only pre-installed ones are allowed to run. If your Note10 + charges in safe mode and shows no errors, you can bet it’s a bad app to blame. It could be bad application coding or it could be malicious software.

To restart your phone in safe mode:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Keep holding the Volume down key until the device finishes rebooting.
  6. Safe mode will appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
  7. Once you see Safe Mode, release the Volume down key.
  8. Charge the phone in Safe Mode for at least 30 minutes and see what happens.

If your Note10 + is charging well, a bad app is one possible reason for it. To know which apps are causing the problem, follow these steps:

  1. Boot into safe mode.
  2. Check the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps one by one. We recommend that you start with the most recently added ones.
  4. After uninstalling an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. 1-4 if your Note10 + is still problematic. Repeat the steps.

The last troubleshooting step that you can do in this situation is factory reset. This is your last resort, none of the above solutions should work. Save your photos, videos, documents, etc. Make sure to back up your personal data first to avoid losing it.

How to reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10 + via Settings Menu

  1. Make a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Scroll down to the General management option and tap it.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Choose Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information and tap Reset to continue.
  7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

How to hard reset Samsung Galaxy Note10 + using hardware buttons

  1. If possible, take a backup of your personal data beforehand. If your problem is preventing you from doing this, just skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure you remove your Google account. If your problem is preventing you from doing this, just skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot into Recovery Mode. If you are unable to regularly turn off the device via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery runs out. Then charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting into Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Bixby button at the same time.
  5. While holding down the Volume Up and Bixby keys, press and hold the Power button.
  6. The recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. ‘Wipe data / factory reset.’ Use the Volume Down button until the option is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data / factory reset.
  9. Use the Volume Down button to highlight yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.

In some cases, moisture detected failure can be a sign of faulty hardware. If factory reset does not make a difference, contact your local Samsung store or Service Center.

Use wireless charging  . The wireless charging feature of your device is not affected by a malfunction in the charging port. So if nothing has worked so far, consider charging your device wirelessly. If you want to fix the problem permanently, you should have the phone checked by Samsung so the port can be examined closely.

Clear the data of USB Settings service  . Warning errors have been detected in some humidity conditions, this is not exactly due to a serious hardware issue but a USB port settings glitch. There have been rare instances of this problem in the past but factory reset has helped. 

However, in case you want to check further, you can use the USB Settings app’s data to see if it will continue. Here’s what you can do:

  1. To open the Apps screen, swipe from the Home screen to an empty place.
  2. Tap Settings> Apps.
  3. Find and tap USB Settings.
  4. Tap Storage.
  5. Tap Clear data and then tap OK.
