Minecraft’s adventures are endless, and so is its world. As such, exploring and navigating the game’s many biomes can be a bit overwhelming for some players. If you’re looking for a way to find your way, you’ve come to the right place. Here we show you how create a map step by step and how you can use them for orientation.
How to create a map in Minecraft
To make a card, you’ll need eight units of paper (you know, if you line up three candy canes horizontally). Once you’ve made a map, you’ll also need to make a compass. The required ingredients are four iron ingots and one unit of redstone. In the linked articles, we explain how to get each of these ingredients. Once you have them, go to a workbench and place them as follows.

Once you’ve created the map and it’s in your inventory, a button that says “Complete Blank Map” will appear at the bottom of the screen. When you press it, the map is automatically generated with what is around.

How to expand the map in Minecraft
If the starting area marked on the map is too small for you, you can always expand its area. All you need is more paper and the current map. On the workbench put them in the middle and all the paper around them and you’ll get an enlarged map.

It is used in the same way as the previous one, only this time we have to run to the neutral colored edge to explore this area and complete the map.
Explore the world to fill in the enlarged map
This magnifying process can be done up to four times, so the level of the map increases and you also know a larger area when you look something up in it.
