More than five years ago, Instagram allowed you to see new posts in the order in which the accounts you followed posted them. You know, chronologically. However, over the years and as the app’s algorithm system has improved, this aspect has continued to improve, so today in the meta app you see the posts you like the most instead of them to sort in a chronological feed. Now you have the option to bring up the timeline again, sorted by the most recent posts, under the name “Following”. Here’s how, step by step.
How to turn on the chronological feed on Instagram
First of all, you need to update the app to the latest version. Once you have that, open the app. On the home page, where the Instagram logo appears in all letters, there should be a down arrow showing the ability to open a drop-down menu. When you click on it, appear two options: Followed and Favorites.

If you choose the first option, Followed, you’ll get the chronological feed you want with all the accounts you follow without any additional steps. If you scroll down you will find the latest photos and videos that have been posted. On the other hand, if you prefer to split up this selection a bit, you have to select the Favorites option.
Choose your favorite accounts to sort the feed
In this case you will see the publications of the favorite accounts that you have marked as favorites (up to a maximum of 30). If you want to keep the order set by the previous algorithm, you don’t need to take any extra steps, just don’t select any of the above options from the menu: Follow or Favorites, as it will keep the current preset unless you consciously click on it.

- Go into the app and click on the Instagram name in the top left corner.
- If you would like the feed to be sorted according to the accounts you follow, select the “Follow” option from the menu that appears.
