How to Learn Wi-Fi Password in Windows 11?
Wi-Fi has become the basic necessity of modern life. Be it a local restaurant, coffee shop, office, home, college, dorm. Wi-Fi is used everywhere. Many Wi-Fi networks, many different passwords. With so many networks, you might be confused about the passwords for all the different Wi-Fi networks you connect to.
If you recently changed your Wi-Fi password or set your password a long time ago, now you need to share it with someone or use it on a different device, but you don’t remember your WiFi password, don’t worry. Your Windows 11 system or any other system keeps a record of all the networks (SSIDs) you have connected to in the past, including their passwords (security keys). There are several ways to view saved WiFi passwords on your Windows 11 computer.
Unless you have changed the default password provided by the Wi-Fi device or reset your router, simply refer to the password located on the back of the modem next to the SSID. However, if you’ve changed the default password and don’t remember it, we’ll show you how to find forgotten WiFi passwords.
Find Your Wi-Fi Password Using Settings in Windows 11
If you forgot your Wi-Fi password, you can retrieve it via Windows 11 Settings. Remember, with this method you can view the password of a Wi-Fi network only if you are already connected to that network. To get your Wi-Fi password, follow these steps:
Click the Start button and select the Settings icon or press the Windows + I hotkey to open System Settings .
In Windows 11 Settings, click on the Network and internet tab in the left pane , then scroll down and select the Advanced network settings option on the right .
On the Advanced network settings page, scroll down and select More network adapter options i under Related settings .
This will open the Network Connections control panel. Here, right-click on your Wi-fi adapter and select Status or just double-click on the Wi-fi adapter.
In the Wi-Fi Status dialog, select Wireless Properties .
This will show another popup dialog named Wireless Network Properties . Inside that, switch to the Security tab and check the Show characters option.
You will now see the password for your Wi-fi Network in the Network security key field as shown below.
View WiFi Password in Windows 11 via Control Panel
A similar method you can use to find wifi passwords is to use the control panel.
First, open Control Panel in Windows 11 by searching for Control Panel in Windows search .
From the Control Panel, click the View network status and tasks link under the Network and Internet category .
Next, select Change adapter settings in the Network and Sharing Center panel .
You can also directly access Network Connections in the Control Panel by pressing Windows+R and typing the Run ncpa.cpl command, then clicking OK.
In the Network Connections window, right-click on your Wi-fi adapter and select Status or just double-click on the Wi-fi adapter.
Then click Wireless Properties in the WiFi Status window .
Now, go to the Security tab and then check the box in front of Show characters to reveal your WiFi password .
