How to install MODs in Minecraft for Android

In Minecraft it is possible to install mods through different file types and apps. However, there is one step that almost everyone needs to do before installing it. And that is to change minecraft storage to external. Keep in mind that this step will result in starting from scratch. So if you don’t want to lose your created worlds, you should make a backup beforehand.

Once you’ve saved everything, open the Mojang game and tap the gear icon to access the options

If you don’t have one yet, then create at least one world in Minecraft. It is now possible to install mods in Minecraft. However, there are several ways to install mods in Minecraft, depending on the type of file and the content you want to add. In this content, we explain you the free ways to do it:

  • Addons
  • .MCPack files

Before we explain one by one, the first thing you should do is find and download the relevant mod. To do this, you can visit any website dedicated to downloading mods for Minecraft, such as https://www.mcpedl.com.

Once you’ve downloaded the mod, you’ll need to perform one type of installation or another, depending on the format. Below we explain all the options.

Installing addons via compressed files

This method requires you to have a file explorer installed. If you don’t have one, you can download ES File Explorer which you can download right here below.

For our example, we downloaded an add-on called Parkour Blocks. When you download it you will find it in the folder Downloads, where we go to unzip it. Click and hold on the file to select it.

The default option is ok, tap OK.

After the file is unzipped, access the newly created folder.

Inside are two folders. If you don’t see their full name, you can click Rename to see it. One of them contains the word Behaviour and one contains the word Resources in the middle of his name. Choose one of them and press Copy.

Now you have to go to the Minecraft files. These are located in the following path: storage/emulated/0/0/games/com.mojang/ Tap the behaviour_packs or resource_packs folder, depending on whether you behaviour or resources copied folder.

Once you start with a folder (behaviour or resources) are done, follow the same steps to copy the other folder. After that, turn on Minecraft and before going to any of the worlds, tap on the edit icon. If you want the mod to be installed in a new world, click Create New.

In the left menu you will see two tabs for addons, one for Resource Packs and one for Behavior Packstap one of them, then tap My Packs.

You will see the addon you just copied. Tap on it and then tap Activate to activate it.

Repeat the process with Resource Packs or Behavior Packs. If you have activated both add-ons, you can now enjoy them in your Minecraft world.

Install mcpack files

A file explorer is also required to install the mcpack files. Search for your mcpack in it.

It is possible that the mcpack file ends in .zip. In this case, do not unzip the file, press and hold and tap Rename (rename) to rename them.

Remove the .zip from the filename so it ends directly in .mcpack.

If you had a zip file, you will now see that its icon has changed. Tap on the file to open it.

Choose Minecraft as the application to open it. tap Always or This Time Only (only this time).

Minecraft will open and install the mod. Once it’s done, a message will appear with Sucessfully imported indicates that the mod was successfully imported and the name of the mod.

Before entering the world where you want to activate the mod, tap the edit icon. You can also create a new world by clicking Create New click

In the menu on the left, tap Behavior Packsin the pane on the right, under My Packsyou will see the newly installed mod.

Tap on it and tap Activate to activate it.

Once activated, will assigned the add-on to your Minecraft world. Keep in mind that some add-ons require a new world as they affect the introduction of certain elements during world creation.
