Note: The background you set will also disappear after you close the app.
Setting the Video You Want as Background with VLC
Another way to create desktop background video is with VLC media player . This method will work on Windows, macOS, Linux, even ChromeOS, variants of BSD, and Solaris.
To set the desired video as the background:
- Open Tools > Preferences > Videos and select “Show Settings” at the bottom as “All” .
- In the window that opens , select “DirectX” from the “Output modules” section .
- After selecting DirectX , save the operations and select the video you want to use.
- After selecting the video, right click on the video and choose Video > Set as Wallpaper .
Note: When you set the video as wallpaper with VLC Media Player, the desktop icons do not appear and the Windows toolbar still appears even if you make the video full screen.
Setting a Video as Wallpaper Using YouTube
There is one more way to set a desired video as wallpaper. You can set any video you want as the background using Youtube . This process is similar to the logic in the VLC media player, so keep in mind that in this scenario too, you won’t get a real wallpaper experience as there are no desktop icons and shortcuts.
To set a YouTube video as the desktop background:
Open YouTube.com and select your video. Play the clip and then switch to full screen mode. Alt-Tab using open apps. Thus, you set the desired YouTube video as wallpaper.
