Windows 10 used Microsoft Bing und Microsoft Edge as the default search engine and browser for searching the Internet. This happens even if you’ve changed your default browser to use Google as the default search engine. Luckily, you can easily change this behavior thanks to two third-party tools.
The first is EdgeDeflector. This simple software takes care of change the default browser used when searching.
Download the installer, launch the installation file and click Install.

Once the installation is complete, go to Windows 10 Settings and open the section Apps.

In that area Default apps Are you looking for the entry? Web browser and click on it. In the window that now appears, select the browser that you want to set as the default browser.

From now on, when you search the web with Windows 10, your preferred browser will start automatically. However, you will see that the search is still performed on Microsoft Bing. How can you use Google instead?

Once downloaded to your PC, if you’re using Firefox, all you have to do is double-click the file from your Downloads list to start the installation. (If this is the first time you’re installing an extension, you may need to choose what program to use to open those files, Firefox, of course). You can also drag and drop the extension across the browser interface. A pop-up window will then ask you for the last necessary permissions.
From now on, Internet searches will be performed using your browser’s default search engine. Both EdgeDeflector and the extensions mentioned in this article will help you keep your personal settings even when using system tools like Windows 10 search.
