To put GIFs in WhatsApp status, we have two choices: once our picture gallery and via an app.
Set GIFs as WhatsApp Status from Gallery
To use this method, you must first have the GIF that you want to put on your phone. Knowing this, open WhatsApp and click on the tab Status:
Status tab on WhatsApp
Then click My statusto add one:
Button to insert your own status
The camera app opens. Slide your finger up to open the gallery:

Select the GIF in the gallery:

Click on it and then click the submit button to set it to your state:

When you’ve done that, it will be set in your status:

Set a WhatsApp status GIF with an application
In this case we use the App from the most popular GIF repository on the web, which is none other than Giphy, which you can download below.
Once you have it installed, open it and you will find it on the screen:
Giphy home screen
You can choose a GIF from those displayed on the main screen. But you can also use the second button on the bottom left of the screen to explore the latest trends or GIFs by category:
Giphy-Scan-Button
Additionally, you can always use the search bar on the home page to find something that interests you:
Search for GIFs in Giphy
Anyway, once you’ve found the GIF you’re interested in, click on it to open it. You’ll enlarge it, and you’ll also see a button shaped like a paper airplane. Click on it below:
GIF selected
Now the sharing options will appear. Among all those offered we click on WhatsApp:
Click in the next menu My status and then on the green button:
Share the GIF in our status
On the editing screen we click on the send button:
Send the GIF to the status
We verify that it has been included in our WhatsApp statements:
Set GIF in our status
Set a GIF as WhatsApp status with the internal camera
This procedure is as simple as opening WhatsApp, clicking the tab Status to go and on My status to click:
Status tab on WhatsApp
The mobile phone camera opens. We need to press and hold the button to take a photo in order for a video to start recording:
WhatsApp Camera
Now we record what we want with our camera, but no longer than five seconds. When we are finished we will see the following in the camera:
Video recorded on WhatsApp
With the sliders at the top we can set the duration of the clip, and on the right we can choose to play the video as a GIF. Once we have chosen the duration of the GIF, we click on the send button:
Edited duration of video and changed format to GIF
And now let’s check if it was fixed in our state:

And that’s it, if you follow the steps that we give you in any of these methods, you will see that it costs nothing to complete this task.
