Tinder is the most popular dating app in the world and its popularity is partly due to the interesting and useful features it includes. Of course, none of this would be relevant without Match, the basic contact mechanism that allows two people to start a conversation.
What is a match on Tinder
A match takes place when two people meet each other Like give. Tinder presents each user with a carousel of different profiles that they can discard or say they like the people in them. The latter is called “like” designated. If you are a person Like and that person also liked you when viewing your profile, a match will be made. Once this is done both users can start a conversation via the chat and get to know each other better. When you get a match, just go to the chat area.

How to get a match on Tinder
There are three basic gestures in Tinder’s interface. While browsing user profiles, you can do the following:
- Swipe right
- Swipe left
- Swipe up
to a Like to give, swipe right or press the heart button as shown in the image below.

If you want to get rid of a profile, just swipe left or click the X button.
Super Like by clicking on the star
There is also the possibility swipe up to give a super like. The difference from the traditional like is that the person who receives it will see a special notification letting them know that your profile has been highly liked by another user.
How long a Tinder match lasts
A match on Tinder lasts indefinitely. This means that there is no time limit for these users to contact you, so you can start the conversations at any time. If for some reason you’ve seen someone disappear from your matches list, it’s because that user deleted their Tinder account.
