In Minecraft the anvil is one of the most useful items. This allows you to repair items while retaining their enchantments, or even enchant them if you use an enchantment book. Each repair costs experience and resources, and as you use it, the anvil will deteriorate until it breaks. Although it is a “disposable item,” it provides valuable service, especially when using weapons made from hard-to-find materials.
How to create an anvil
To craft an anvil, you need to get the following ingredients:
- 3 iron blocks
- 4 iron ingots
To get Iron Blocks you must Chop iron with a stone pickaxe or harder material. Iron Ingots can be easily obtained from the Iron Blocks by crafting them with a crafting table.
To make the anvil, the order of the ingredients is as follows:
- First row: 3 iron blocks
- Second row: An iron ingot in the middle
- Third row: 3 iron ingots

How to repair objects with an anvil
Once you’ve crafted and placed the anvil, tap on it to use it. Using an anvil requires two items: one to repair and one to sacrifice. The item you want to repair should be put in the left space, while the item you want to sacrifice should be put in the right space
As an example you can see the following picture.
Repair a pickaxe with an anvil
To fix the stone pickaxe, we placed the pickaxe on the left and stone blocks on the right. Thanks to that the tip is now fully repaired and it only cost us a stone block and a bit of experience.
