Google Play Protect is a Google Play built-in security system. Its task is to protect the entire mobile device through three tools: measures to prevent theft, protection when surfing the Internet and scanning applications against malware. In addition, Google Play Protect also scans apps from third-party stores and analyzes anomalous app behavior.
Play Protect is usually set by default on your device. If this is not the case and you need to configure Play Protect, open the Google Play app on your Android device from the Apps menu. Tap the three lines icon in the top-left corner of the app’s home screen.

If you turn off the malicious apps detection extension, information about apps that you haven’t installed from Google Play will not be sent to Google, so Google can’t check them for possible harm.
