How to Install iOS Applications with AltStore?

Find out how to upload IPA files using AltStore

Requirements
Windows or macOS computer
iOS device running iOS 12.2 and above
IPA file of the application you want to install

How to Set Up AltStore?

Windows:

Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple’s website (not Microsoft Store)
Download the latest version of iCloud from Apple’s website (not Microsoft Store)
Download the latest AltStore for Windows.
Extract the contents of the zip file, double click the “setup.exe” file to begin installation, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Now connect your iPhone to your computer. Unlock your iOS device and choose to trust the device if prompted.
Open iTunes and enable iTunes Wi-Fi sync for your iPhone. Read this guide to find out how.
Now click the AltStore icon in the System Tray, install AltStore, then select your iOS device.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.
In a few seconds, AltStore will be loaded on your iPhone. Once installed, go to Settings> General> Profiles (or Profiles and Device Management), tap the profile tagged with your Apple ID, then hit the Trust button.

Mac os operating system:

Download and install AltStore on MacOS
Start AltStore. It will appear as an icon in the menu bar.
Click on the AltStore icon in the menu bar and select Install Mail Plugin. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the setup.
After the setup is complete, restart the Mail application. Next, you must enable the Mail plugin. To do this, click on Mail in the menu bar and then select Preferences.
Click Manage Add-ons.
Enable the add-on called AltPlugin.mailbundle, then click Apply and Restart Mail.
Now connect your iPhone to your computer. Unlock your iOS device and choose to trust the device if prompted.
If you are on MacOS Mojave, open iTunes and enable iTunes Wi-Fi sync for iPhone.
If you are on macOS Catalina go to the summary page of your iPhone in iTunes and enable Show this iPhone while on Wi-Fi. If you’re not sure how to do this, go to this link to read the guide.
Now click the AltStore icon in the menu bar, click Install AltStore, then select your iOS device.
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.
In a few seconds, AltStore will be loaded on your iPhone. Once installed, go to Settings> General> Profiles (or Profiles and Device Management), tap the profile tagged with your Apple ID, then hit the Trust button.

How to Install Applications with AltStore?

Once the IPA file is downloaded, open the AltStore app on your device and go to the My Apps tab.
Press the + icon in the upper left corner. A list of IPA files you downloaded will be displayed. Tap on the IPA file you downloaded earlier.
If this is your first time using AltStore, you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID and password to begin installation.
AltStore starts installing the application. It takes a few minutes to complete the setup.
Once the app is installed, it will appear in the My Apps tab and you can open it from there or from the Home screen.
Apps last 7 days and you can easily remove them from your device by going to My Apps in AltStore and then tapping the “X days” button next to the app.

Method 2: How to Use AltDeploy to Install iOS Apps on iPhone or iPad

Sideloading is the process of installing apps on your iPhone or iPad using .IPA files using tools like AltDeploy. Cydia Impactor was the most popular tool for side loading apps, but the tool hasn’t been working since the last few months. Cydia’s developer Saurik said it will update the tool by December of last year, but we have now passed that date and no updates have been released.

Fortunately, there is a new tool called AltDeploy that works quite similarly to Cydia Impactor and is a much better alternative as it offers a few additional useful features missing in Cydia Impactor.

Since many signing services run into issues with keeping apps signed for a long time, the best way to bypass this problem is now side-loading. If you are here to learn how to sideload applications with AltDeploy, follow the guide below as we show you the complete process of sideloading any IPA file using this new tool.

Before diving in, AltDeploy has some limitations such as:

As of this writing, the tool only supports macOS.
You can only side install 3 applications in total.
Applications must be resigned every 7 days.

Installing iOS Applications with AltDeploy

Step 1: Get the latest version of AltDeploy: Download AltDeploy

Step 2: Connect your iOS device to your computer and open AltDeploy. The software should detect and display the connected iOS device as shown below.

Step 3: Click the drop-down menu that says “No file selected” and then select Browse. Now browse and select the IPA file you want to install.

Step 5: If you are using AltDeploy for the first time, a prompt is displayed asking you to install a Mail app plug-in for the tool to work properly. Click the Install button to continue, then enter your computer password when prompted.

Step 6: Once installed, open the Mail app again and go to its Preferences. Go to the General tab and click on Manage Add-ons.

Step 7: Tick AltPlugin.mailbundle plugin and click Apply and Re-Mail button. Note that the Mail app must always be open every time you use AltDeploy.

Step 8: Now go back to AltDeploy and click the Start button to begin the application installation process.

Step 9: If you are using AltDeploy for the first time, you will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password used to generate a signature certificate to install the application.

Note: If you don’t want to use your main Apple ID for security reasons, you can create an alternative Apple ID and use it.

Step 10: AltDeploy will begin the installation process. Once done, the app should appear on your iPhone or iPad Home screen.

Step 11: You must verify the profile before using the application. On your iOS device, go to Settings> General> Profiles, tap the profile tagged using your Apple ID, then click the Trust button.

You can now go back to the Home screen and tap the app to open it. That’s all you need to do to sideload and install IPA files on your iOS device! The process is pretty straightforward and once you get used to it, you can easily install apps on the go.

This is the best tool to replace Cydia Impactor. My favorite thing about AltDeploy is that it saves your Apple ID and password so you don’t have to re-enter it every time you want to install an app. You can add as many Apple IDs as you want and easily select them whenever you want to install an app.
